Growing Up
Joseph O'Brien
I cannot listen to every word that's said
Everyone's got their own opinion to protect
You'll do well to take most words with a grain of salt
Cause most answers don't reside in human thoughts
How will I grow if don't grow up at all
How will I know if I don't know how to fall
Can't return this independence
I must learn to take the hardest calls
Cause how will I grow if I don't grow up at all
My mother's words can be a melody hands down
My father's wisdom could present me with no doubt
But as a man I want a faith I call my own
I can't stand straight if every truth spent the night back home
How will I grow if don't grow up at all
How will I know if I don't know how to fall
Can't return this independence
I must learn to take the hardest calls
Cause how will I grow if I don't grow up at all
Now I'm reaching, now I'm seeking
It's the season, it's the time (it's the time)
Time to say a prayer and fly (and fly)
To grow in wisdom, grow in stature
Grow in favor with my God (with my God)
But it's ok to call your folks when you’re not fine
How will I grow if don't grow up at all
How will I know if I don't know how to fall
How will I grow if don't grow up at all
How will I know if I don't know how to fall (know how to fall)
Can't return this independence
I must learn to take the hardest calls
Cause so how will I grow if I don't grow up at all
How will I grow if I don't grow up at all
How will I grow if I don't grow up at all
