Church Hurt
Morgan J
Mm, alright I'ma head out now
I came here to heal, but you came to steal my joy and smile
Said that I'm a black girl, supposed to be used to her
I'll accept what's all around
Then I gotta turn it down just to tap it
To fit in
But I can't help that you're uncomfortable
'Cause I come with a sting
Though I speak with love, that's enough
Not enough for you
And you look at me like I'm my past
Though God did away with all that
I still can't get a pass
Church hurts hurt the worst
It does, church hurts hurt the worst
Where's the love?
And all I wanted was community
But you left me alone to do this thing
Now and days, everyone is big on energy
And it seems to me how you get into those things
Then when you're living off experience
You don't know truly who God is
God doesn't love me, God doesn't want me
I've acted ugly and God's acting funny
That's why I'm running
(But the) Truth is
God really loves you, God really wants you
He's not the man or the woman with assumptions
He wants you to come in to Him first
Church hurts the worst
I know church hurts the worst
Where do you go?
When all you wanted was community
But they left you alone to do the thing
You should put
First, a relationship with Jesus
(Over) A relationship with people
First, a relationship with Jesus
(Over) A relationship with people
First, a relationship with Jesus
(Over) A relationship with people
First, a relationship with Jesus
(Over) A relationship with people
Church hurts the worst
I know church hurts the worst
Where do you go?
When all you wanted was community
But they left you alone to do that thing
But thank God, you're not alone
