About Ne-Yo

Shaffer Chimere Smith, professionally known as Ne-Yo, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer. Born on October 18, 1979, he rose to prominence in the mid-2000s and is considered one of the leading figures of R&B music during that decade. His breakthrough came in 2004 with the hit single "Let Me Love You," which he wrote for Mario. The success of this track led to a meeting with Def Jam’s then-president, Jay-Z, and earned Ne-Yo a recording contract with the label.

Ne-Yo’s career took off with the release of his debut studio album In My Own Words in 2006, which featured the chart-topping single "So Sick."
