La Última Mariposita
Nenito Vargas
The Last Little Butterfly
She confessed
To having murdered the last little butterfly
That fluttered in her stomach
And she cut the wings off love
She doesn't even know anymore
In how many pieces they've left her heart
She put Cupid in a drawer and threw away the key
And so she declared a love strike
And they left her soul cold as ice
And her heart armored against love from so much suffering
And her ears that heard a thousand I love yous
Were deaf from so many unfulfilled promises
She doesn't care if you bring down the moon and a couple of stars
She doesn't believe in Neruda's poems or Romeo's phrases
If she still remembers the last time she was taken to heaven
And fell in a nosedive with broken wings and immense pain
Because behind a wounded woman
There's always a fool she never forgets
And though it sounds masochistic, that's life
And slowly the last little butterfly is dying of pain
They left her with broken wings
She no longer believes in love
And it hurts so much that fool
Was precisely me Oh my!
They left her with broken wings
And a wounded heart
And I would give my life
To have her forgiveness
Oh man! Don't cry, little butterfly
Hopefully the years
Bring back your life, my love
Oh man! And open your wings again
That stone heart
Doesn't suit you at all, my love
Oh man!
Oh listen!
Oh man!
Don't cry, little butterfly
Oh man!
Oh listen!
Oh man!
I love you, little butterfly
