Dear God
Tim Steinfort
Dear God
Why is there so much pain
And hunger and diseases
Why are people praying in vain
And killing in your name
They justify their kill
And how can you just sit and watch the rich impose their will
On people who are poor
And sleeping on the floor
Why do we have to lose the ones we love in times of war
Why do we have to burn
Our fingers just to learn
Why do we have to suffer getting nothing in return
Dear God
Why don't you stop the violence?
We hope, we pray, but all we get is silence
Dear God
Our prayers remain unanswered
As a hundred thousand children die of cancer
Dear God
Dear God
I think I'm going insane
The guilty crush the innocent
It's such a bloody shame
It'll always be the same
And that will never change
Now how can you just sit and watch them crucify the saints
You want us to be loyal
You want us to be true
But I cannot remember getting any help from you
If it's true that Jesus
He died for our sins
Then why all these tsunamis and these hurricane winds
Dear God
Why don't you stop the violence?
We hope, we pray, but all we get is silence
Dear God
Our prayers remain unanswered
As a hundred thousand children die of cancer
Dear God
Dear God
Why is their so much grief
And rape and murder
How can you expect us to believe
And get down on our knees
Without any guarantees
The afterlife is promised just to make us feel at ease
So we won't cross the line
And stand our time
Longing for the afterlife, waiting for a sign
A sign that never came
If Jesus took the blame
Then why are desperate people carrying a ball and chain
Dear God
Why don't you stop the violence
We hope, we pray, but all we get is silence
Dear God
Our prayers remain unanswered
As a hundred thousand children die of cancer
Dear God
