Apanhei-te Cavaquinho
Ademilde Fonseca
I Caught You, Cavaquinho
I still remember,
My childhood days,
When I’d jump into a dance,
Full of hope and praise,
In my little sandals and braids,
With Mané and Zé from France,
Never thought I’d recall,
This little tune at all.
And today I’m listening,
To this choro, the sound of pine,
Bringing back those good old times,
With mom and my little brother,
Now I’m a bird without a nest,
No family, no love to rest,
But I’m so happy listening,
To "I Caught You, Cavaquinho!"
Today singing "I Caught You, Cavaquinho,"
I go wild, I feel the heat,
I’m like a little bird,
I want to sing my life away,
This life, I’ll take it any way,
Listening to the flute, the cavaquinho, and guitar,
I feel my heart,
Has the rhythm of a tambourine,
I forget everything and sing along with flair,
This little tune,
That’s so Brazilian!
Today singing "I Caught You, Cavaquinho,"
I go wild, I feel the heat,
I’m like a little bird,
I want to sing my life away,
This life, I’ll take it any way,
Listening to the flute, the cavaquinho, and guitar,
I feel my heart,
Has the rhythm of a tambourine,
I forget everything and sing along with flair,
This little tune,
That’s so Brazilian!...
