A Canção do Elevador
Afonso Dubraz
The Elevator Song
I live on the ground floor
With a view of the reception
To see if luck knocks at the door to see you arrive
Owner of the first right
That gives me a pain in the chest
With this defect of not being on my floor
So I make a big plan
That I forget or that I'm wrong
Whenever I see her like this
Standing there
In the middle of the entrance hall
Not wanting to take the stairs
Just to see me
So begins our love story
Both of us, plus the buttons of this elevator
The floor goes up, the clothes come down and the heat
Is enough to warm our lives no matter which floor it is
Oh, there should already be a vaccine
To cure my fate
That damn neighbor
Insists on cursing
What's the point of being so close
To be an almost certain love
If then between us there's always a ceiling getting in the way
I leave quietly
To cross her path
And be able to see her like this
Standing there
In the middle of the entrance hall
Not wanting to take the stairs
Just to see me
So begins our love story
Both of us, plus the buttons of this elevator
The floor goes up, the clothes come down and the heat
Is enough to warm our lives no matter which floor it is
