La Muchacha Del Circo
Agustin Magaldi
The Circus Girl
Along the long road in the old cart
The miserable circus went on a winter afternoon
And a melodious voice of infinite sweetness
Sang this sad song
I am the circus girl
For a coin I give
A bit of humble beauty
A bit of warm emotion
I am the circus girl
I travel those roads
Clad in my silk mesh
Handing out to everyone
Flowers of illusion
There goes the circus girl
She finds no comfort or love
She gives others happiness
And suffers misery and pain
Finally one night the tired hand
Loosened the trapeze
And... poor circus girl!
Seeking applause, she found death
Hanging from the fragile trapeze
Her elegant body seems to jump
Like a white dove
That with crazy eagerness wants to reach the sky
While the excited crowd
Uneasily watches her mortal leap
Under the canvas of the old circus
A deathly chill is felt to pass
