Television
Listen to this story I'm about to tell
And be careful it doesn't happen to you as well
It's the tale of a Christian with a TV set
Not black and white, but a color one you bet
It was a great TV, had stereo sound
He was so hooked, sometimes he wouldn't sleep a round;
He watched all kinds of special shows
Never missed a thing, not even the commercials, you know
Television can be your downfall
It's your choice, after all
It's no longer just fun, it's turned into obsession
Be careful, it could lead to your destruction
He watched soap operas, and cartoons too
Horror flicks and some adventure ones, who knew?
He had a VCR and cable TV
And for a video store, he had a subscription, you see
And with Nintendo, he played Mario Bros.
No one could beat him, he was the king of the shows
He never read the Bible, nor prayed to the Lord
Just glued to the TV, his spirit ignored
One day the power went out, he had to sleep
And in his dreams, he heard a voice so deep:
"What good is your TV or your VCR
If the Lord comes today, you won't get far
God is a jealous God, wants you for Himself
And if you watch so much TV, how can you be true to Him?"
Confess your sins and cry out to the Lord
And see if you can turn off that TV, for sure"
The dream was intense, and when he woke up
He ran to the TV and unplugged that pup
He swore to forget about the Mickey Mouse Club
Grabbed the TV and tossed it out of the hub
Since that day, his life has changed
Now he's a better Christian, rearranged
Today be careful, don't let it happen to you
And make sure you can escape from the TV too.
