shame and vile stain

faces in pain
slaves in Caesar's kingdom...

in the voice of John, that great prophet
who baptized you in the charm
of the Jordan River.

You are born in the jubilation
of the poor of Bethlehem
you live your childhood in Nazareth

by order of Herod
sick and cruel king.

You wander in despair
