Vida D'un Gat
Albert Pla
Life of a Cat
His father was an old fat and lame cat
And his mother a street cat
And he was born one night under the rain
But his mother died during childbirth
And his father of a heart attack
And he was left abandoned in the middle of the meadows
He would die of hunger, he would die frozen
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
He had neither parents nor a friend
Nor a godfather to take care of him
And so lonely, just a few days old
He dragged his body along a path through the city
But it was when crossing a road
That a truck ran over him on a zebra crossing
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
And he felt depressed, weak, overwhelmed
Crushed under the truck
He saw that he couldn't breathe
But life didn't want to let him go for anything
Injured and fearing death
He followed a girl and the girl caught him
She held him in her arms, gave him a ridiculous name
Took him to her home and showed him to the family
But an unscrupulous father grabbed him from behind
And while scolding the girl, he threw him out the window
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
Nine floors of falling and he stayed alive on the sidewalk
Battered and broken but more lives awaited him
There is life, there is life
But he managed to get up, managed to walk
Managed to cross the city to the port
And he saw the sea and he saw a fish
He approached the dock but slipped
And fell into the water, felt lost
He was sure he would drown
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
It was pathetic to see how he clung to life
Splashing towards a ship sailing out to sea
And he managed to climb aboard, half drowned, heartbroken
He spent all his childhood inside a fishing boat
Seven months later he disembarked
In a strange, apocalyptic and ungrateful land
Houses half destroyed, people dead or killing each other
And a mess of hysterical screams of terrors and fires and nerves
And suddenly a bomb exploded under his feet
And he flew through the air, saying goodbye to life
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
And in that shitty country there was war, there was war
And where violence reigns, they shoot you in the face
Body full of shrapnel, dying, dying
When he became a miracle he never expected
A beautiful and merciful cat picked him up
And with time and some caresses, she healed his wounds
And he spent the days fucking that he spent convalescing
But the cat hid that she loved another cat
What am I saying, a cat, that was a tiger
Which he discovered one day, he swore he would kill them
It was a mess of skirts
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
Imagine that beast, a kind of legionnaire
Claiming slow revenge, death for the two lovers
The cat was torn apart, dead
And he had no choice but to escape, pursued like a rat
The shots ended and it was a time of peace
Of peace but misery of sorrows and hunger
And one day the cat felt his body levitating
Defying all laws of gravity
His legs were lifted off the ground
And an excited voice looked at him and exclaimed
Yeehaw, family, today for lunch we have grilled cat
But luckily he was a cat and had nine lives
He went out to avoid being caught by a miracle
Not ending up as a meal
In the post-war there is hunger, there is hunger
He had gone through nine lives but the little cat never died
The truth is he didn't understand the point of this life
And now he just dragged himself, wandered alone
Now he was a damn old cat, despised by everyone
He was a mess, he was burnt out
But damn, what a fucking miserable life he had
And unfortunately, he was a cat and had nine lives.
