Mi Árbol y Yo

My Tree and I
My mother and I planted it
At the edge of the courtyard
Where the house ends
It was my father who brought it
I was five years old
And he is just a branch
When spring arrives
We fertilize the land well
And we covered it with water
With pieces of wood
We made a barrier
So that it would not be damaged
My tree sprouted, my childhood passed
Today under its shadow that grew so much
We have memories my tree and I
Over the years
And my long pants
I reached adolescence
It was in the shade of my tree
A nap in the summer
Where I lost my innocence
Then it was time for studies
With frequent returns
But with full awareness
A long journey was approaching
One way ticket only
And so the absence came to me
My tree sprouted, my childhood passed
Today under its shadow that grew so much
We have memories my tree and I
Many years have passed
And I'm finally back
To my beloved homeland
And at the edge of the courtyard
There he was waiting for me
How to wait for a friend
He seemed to smile at me
As if wanting to tell me
Look, I'm full of nests
That tree we planted
Twenty-something years ago
When I was just a child
The one that sprouted and time passed
Half of my life was spent with him
Today under its shadow, which grew so much
We have memories, my tree and I
