De Ayer a Hoy
Alberto Cortez
From Yesterday to Today
I loved you yesterday, I loved you
with uncertain steps,
consequences that threw
my immature dreams.
Helpless frivolity,
flip after flip,
happy to rock
to the rhythm of the waves.
I loved you yesterday, it's true
or maybe, I didn't love you
when just waking up
my heart sought
phantoms and laurels,
that sound in passing,
like the jingles
worn by the herd.
From yesterday to today, I love you
definitely;
I love you, stretch by stretch,
unconditionally;
let's say that my peaks and slopes
are yours,
pains and hallelujahs,
licenses and barriers.
From yesterday to today, I feel you
my constant pulse,
my compass rose,
my unrelenting flight
origin of the breeze
that stirs my flags,
my skin and my shirt,
my home and its shores.
I loved you yesterday, who knows
in what way I loved you?
but, there is no doubt,
my love was already circling
your soul's twin waist,
open tenderness
with doors and windows.
I loved you yesterday or perhaps
I loved you before?
when the overflowing
current of life began
its passage through me,
still inside my mother,
as a welcome,
you were already in my blood.
From yesterday to today, I want you
in every way.
Start from scratch:
I want you as you wish,
if you want as a
feverish and passionate lover,
if you want hesitant
if you want calm.
Without anyone knowing,
like something clandestine.
If you want like the air
that moves the windmills;
the way doesn't matter to me,
humble or haughty:
completely and entirely
I loved you and today I want you.
