Mi Padre
Alejandro Fernández
My Father
My years are getting lost in time
They are getting very far away
My father no longer holds my hand
Only his advice
Childhood memories live in me
When I wished upon a star
I remember my father smiling at that while my mother watched
Years come slowly at first
How slowly they progress
I wanted to grow up, I remember
So I wouldn't stay at home
And accompany my father far away
Maybe even to the end of the world
Because my father was strong, he was very intelligent, he was better than anyone
Today I don't want the years to pass
Because my father is already old
Wrinkles have covered his hands and snow his hair
Oh Lord, stop time I ask you because you can do it
Because I truly don't understand, my God, why the good ones leave us
When your steps grow weary one day, I want to be the one to care for them
In the meantime, give me your arm and let's see what you're going to tell me
