Cuando Un Verso Te Nombra
Alejandro Filio
When a Verse Names You
Because everything is postponed from yesterday for later
because I roam the house and despair again
before dawn,
everything except your body.
Because nothing is my everything if there is nothing with you
because time is a bend and another way to forget
I don't understand your eyes,
nor do I guess your voice.
What awaits me tomorrow, if I wake up on fire
with the sun on my face and my desires with you
I give the sea the window to drown what is felt
and let the calm come to give me relief.
Because sometimes I wander in the smell of your clothes
because I travel slowly from your bed to your things
as if looking for the step,
that leads me back to your mouth.
Everything loses its light looking for you
and you remain in the center,
burning moon.
Because you are on my mind confusing the hours
because you return silently from light to shadow
disrupting everything,
when a verse names you.
