The Grandfather
The grandfather tells
that in the years of yore
when the river was clear
love was enduring
and the smile of an elder
made me live.
the grandmother tells
that she awaited the evening
the little stone on the window
announcing the arrival
of that poetic boy
who made her laugh.
why change
why cry
the beautiful things
that God brought us
we must never
stop living
give a flower
sing my song
because in the end
life is beautiful
and it's a gift
from God to you.
now the grandfather
closed his little eyes
and in me remains the story
of a good life
I am the seed
sown in my children
when the years pass
I will see them rise
it's getting late
and the past condemns you
break those chains now
live again
lift your face
there's a sky waiting for you
don't be difficult
don't wait for the end
why change
why cry
the beautiful things
that God brought us
we must never
stop living
give a flower
sing my song
because in the end
life is beautiful
and it's a gift
from God to you.
why change
why cry
the beautiful things
that God brought us
we must never
stop living
give a flower
sing my song
because in the end
life is beautiful
and it's a gift
from God to you.
