El Semáforo

The Traffic Light
The traffic light is red, the traffic is heavy
It's five in the afternoon, the usual route
I'm on my way home, after a long and tiring day
I have background music that keeps me relaxed
Between cars or lies and a lot of noise
I see someone walking with a sad face
He had a container, containing a couple of coins
And a repeated phrase 'brother give me what you can'
He always passed by in the afternoon and morning
Some cooperated, and others closed the window on him
And if someone spoke to him, it was in a prejudiced way
They didn't give him for his hunger, they thought it was for vice
I saw him exhausted, couldn't take it anymore, he sighed
And at that moment he headed towards my car, a cardboard sign that said 'it's been a while
Since I had dinner, please give me a hand, I'm not bad, I'm good'
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
When I offered him help to satisfy his hunger
With teary eyes, he said God bless you
He turns around with his sad face, somewhat embarrassed
I felt he wanted to talk to me, that he wasn't finished
When he turned his back, I said I bless you too
But I have a question for you: What happened to you?
I take a deep breath, and return for him to tell me then
And he says please don't judge me now
Because there have been many who have come to me with sermons
Like you, I am human and made bad decisions
I also had a family, I also had a home
I have a son who doesn't even want to look at me
And at that time I didn't appreciate his mother
I did something wrong and they don't want to forgive me
But what hurts me the most, I remember that day 2
When I decided to completely walk away from God
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
The traffic light changed and I had to leave
I said a prayer for him, with the intention of restoring him
Declaring that for his life, the sun would rise
That God has never forgotten, always had control
He confesses to me because surprisingly
He was looking at me, it's that when he saw me, he suddenly remembered his son
He mentions to me that despite everything
He still longed to be that man who
Took care of his family, to be that man they always trusted
But he felt afraid that they would despise him
And I told him, don't doubt anymore, don't think it's impossible
You know well that for those who believe, everything is possible
That for his life the light would shine again
That he should seek his family, in the name of Jesus
That he should be thankful because he was still alive
He ended by saying 'thank you, I receive it'
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
In addition to some coins
He's dragging some chains
Pain a sentence that consoles through his veins
An emptiness that doesn't fill, on the contrary, it poisons
A memory of the past, hope for his veins
