En los campos en flor
Alfredo Le Pera
In the Blooming Fields
In the blooming fields
In the blooming fields
there's a wandering little star,
it's the light of your eyes
that reaches my longing.
To think that I didn't appreciate you,
seeing you humble poppy.
I dreamed of roses
that are more beautiful,
but so full of thorns
that cause wounds
in the heart.
If you remember me,
starry-eyed love of mine,
come to my comfort,
relieve my pains.
Love passed, youth,
all the glory of the world,
leaving me wounded
by cruel forgetfulness.
Only your divine image
cures the wound
in my heart.
In the blooming fields
where I will sow my hours,
there are no more flowers
but you, my lovely poppy.
I want to give you my heart
to repay your sleepless nights,
my glory, my heaven,
my red poppy,
always silent and so alone
curing the pains
of my incomprehension.
