Los gauchos judíos
Alfredo Zitarrosa
The Jewish Gauchos
(Ballad)
I saw those gringos who bonded
with sweat to the gauchos of Entre Ríos, yeah,
and to this day they’re workers on the move,
for peace, light, and faith.
I want to leave a goodbye for a child:
the one I was, and to that childhood I owe that warmth.
It’s gone now, my memory chases it, and today
my willow whistled sadly.
I lived your blue horizon, Entre Ríos,
the best of your land and your old palm grove,
today I don’t know how I’ll live without your voice,
I’m nothing without your ceibal.
Larala, laralalailalalá.
