Amei uma Mulher
Amado Edílson
I Loved a Woman
I loved a woman
Who swore she wanted me
I can't say the times
I heard her say
That she wouldn't leave me
And would rather die
I swore eternal love
And she swore to me too
Our love was so beautiful
Suddenly it ended
When I least expected
She left me
She wrote me a letter
Saying in this way
Sorry if I don't love you
Forgive me if I was rude
I'll look for another man
Then find someone who wants you
With the phrases of that letter
I confess I even cried
I took it out of my pocket
Wrapped it in a handkerchief and kept it
I gave everything to Jesus
And never looked for her again
On a Christmas night
I was walking around
When a friend of mine
Came and told me
There's someone who wants to see you
Stayed there waiting for you
I left without knowing anything
When I arrived it was her
At a friend's house
Leaning on the window
She immediately asked me
If I still liked her
I calmly replied
I loved you a lot in the past
But that letter of yours
Left me upset
I did as you commanded
I already have another by my side
Hearing my words
She was distraught
I took the letter out of my pocket
Tore it up, and threw it on the sidewalk
I turned my back on her
And left without saying anything
Four months later
A friend said like this
That he saw her almost crazy
Drinking at the bar
Rereading the letter
Crying and talking about me
We never met again
She lives beyond me
If someone asks me
I answer that someone
That it's all her fault
That we don't live well
