Father's Advice

Please dear son
Listen to me, think well
Your old father wants to give you
The value you have
You are at the age
To reach freedom
To do your will
Become a man as well

There's one thing, my son
That I wanted to tell you
I raised you as best I could
I've fulfilled my duty
Now you decide, the future invites you
I brought you into this world, God gave you life
And it's you who will live

There are thorns at the beginning
And wait for flowers in the end
Respect your peers
Follow the good, leave the bad
Wherever you go
Recognize your place
So no one will be ashamed
Of my son
Nor of me

Defend morals without blood
Help those in need
When in need
Ask for bread, don't steal
Listen to the old, love the young
Think of God, do your best
Eat and dress from the sweat
That you shed on your face

Don't desire stolen gold
Nor love for fantasy
Choose a sincere woman
For your company
Do what I did, my son
See how happy I am
I only married who I wanted
And your mother who she wanted
In the world there are two paths
One is right and the other wrong
In choosing one of them
You must be careful
If you haven't chosen one
To be yours
If you want to follow mine
My example is my past

Even in old age
I want to always be with you
Teaching you good paths
Protecting you from dangers
Whether near or far
I don't forget you for a moment
Because from now on
Besides being a father, I'm a friend

Travel the world
Make friends, know what I knew
Pass on what I taught you
Achieve what I achieved
Enjoy your youth
Love peace
Honor virtue
When you need help
Your old father is here
