Menina de Doze Anos
Amado Edílson
Twelve-Year-Old Girl
I was there in the square
Smiling and finding it funny
When from afar I saw
A girl looking at me
Talking with the others
I observed her there
But I didn't imagine
That the girl looking at me
Was making plans of love
Only thinking of me
And the girl looking at me
Was only twelve years old
She looked at me
Smiling and said to me:
I'm in love!
Although very young
I still have hope
To be your beloved
I said: You are beautiful
But you are still very young
Don't think of me like that
I won't go against divine law
You are a girl
Too young for me
She started crying
And tears falling
On her small face
Crying she said:
My God, what agony
Why such a strong poison?
I left
And she kept crying
Surrendered to nostalgia
She said full of disgust:
This tear on my face
I will avenge one day
Time passed
And the memory fading
I forgot that scene
Some time later
On an excellent night
I saw a little girl
But I didn't imagine
That she was the one I rejected
Giving her so much punishment
I told a friend of mine:
Tell that little doll
To come talk to me
She received the message
That I was in love
And wanted to talk to her
She came annoyed
With a trembling voice
She only said to get revenge:
I am the one who suffered
That you didn't answer me
Didn't want me, I don't know why
Don't go against divine law
I am that girl
Too young for you
I am the one who suffered
That you didn't answer me
Without reason made me suffer
To end your fate
Look for an old lady soon
Who matches you
