Monday
The musty melancholic smell of the sports equipment shed
Clearly divides us along the coatline
A pigeon always dead on the covered walkway
A reserve army of textbooks by Akutagawa
Bound in the middle, outer longevity
Like a display of punishment
Wanting to stretch out branches freely
But the same uniform feels restrictive
Right face, left glance, forward march
Turn your back to the line at attention
The salvation lies in that innocence
Just don't grow up, only you
Monday, kicked into the trash can
Hated even by the garbage, rolling rusted in the sea breeze
The struggle to live is because this isn't where we should be living
Maybe we're extraterrestrial beings
Was it this hard to say you like what you like?
In that case, I'll hold my breath and dive
Even if I can't reach the depth of your heart
Waiting in the station building concourse
The soft-serve ice cream melting, car horns like whole notes
Every time we get closer, we learn more, whether we like it or not
Hoping for knowledge beyond the classroom
I hate talking about tomorrow anyway, hate talking about the future even more
If fleeting things like beautiful fireworks were eternal, it would be better
Pretending not to see what's visible, pretending not to know what you know
When did we become so mature and start laughing like this?
Monday, kicked into the river's surface
Splitting the full moon in half with a water cut
The chest tightens because we can feel each other's thoughts
Maybe we're telepaths
Is it selfish to hate things you hate so much?
In that case, I'll hold my breath and dive
Even if I can't reach the depth of your heart
We never got used to normal or ordinary
We at least wanted to become special human beings
We never got used to being special human beings
We needed to at least acknowledge each other
It's probably you and me
Even if we're tarnished like trash cans
To me, you became special in the past
In a special district
Monday, burned in the physical exam
Leaving a crater in my chest
We were certainly similar in some ways
But we're not the same human beings
The scariest thing is saying goodbye
So let's promise there will be no goodbyes forever
Knowing there's no such thing as forever
We vowed, even if it doesn't reach the level of love or friendship
