Quella Carezza Della Sera
Anna Oxa
That Evening Caress
When my dad came home, I heard the voices
I’d forget my games and run right there
I’d hide in the shadows of the big garden
And I’d challenge him to find me: I’m right here
Then they’d put me to bed after dinner
She’d turn off the light and walk away
I’d be left alone and I’d feel scared
But I wouldn’t ask anyone: stay a while.
I don’t remember the taste of
That hope I felt growing inside me
I don’t know if I miss it more
That evening caress
Or that craving for adventure
The urge to get away from there.
Those autumn days felt endless
When I’d ask my mom where you were
I didn’t understand what that shadow in my eyes was
And I’d start to think: I miss you.
