Mi Verdad
Ana Tijoux
My Truth
Because of my dark skin they erased my identity
I felt trampled by all of society
I had to become strong out of necessity
I was the man of the house at a very early age
Since I was born I knew the need
My barefoot heart was lost in the city
Of my shoes worn from walking so much
I learned from life the street and its loneliness
Since all I have, I have, I have is my truth
And that only accompanies-pana-pana, my truth
Truth, truth my truth
I don't want your authority
I just want to walk with dignity
and conquer my freedom
My skin people
Dryness and storm
The eyes of my neighborhood are rained with humidity
Against all odds we create humanity
Against the silence breaking the coldness
Since all I have, I have, I have is my truth
And that only accompanies me-paña-paña, my
Truth, truth, my truth
I don't want your authority
I just want to walk with dignity
and conquer my freedom
Where you see fear we see truth
You breed anger in the name of authority
You are the poor, you lack dignity
You know we don't want clarity
We do not have spaces, we have the neighborhood
We don't have your guards, we have a community
They need our music to see reality
But you will never know solidarity
Since I was born I knew the need
I learned from life the street and its loneliness
My truth
