At the Puerta del Sol like the year that was
Once again champagne and grapes and carpet tar are
The firecrackers that erase sounds of yesterday
And they heat up the spirit to accept that now, one more step has passed

And on the clock of yesteryear as from year to year
Five more minutes of the countdown
We take stock of the good and the bad
Five minutes of countdown

Sailors, soldiers, singles, married, lovers
Andantes and some other absent-minded priest
Between shouts and whistles the little Spaniards, the enormous
Shorty, we do something at a time for once

And on the clock of yesteryear as from year to year
Five more minutes of the countdown
We take stock of the good and the bad

And although for grapes there are some new ones
We will miss those who are no longer here
And let's see if those of us who are alive wake up
And next year we will laugh

1, 2, 3 and 4 start again as the fifth is one and
The sixth is two and so seven is three

And we say to God and ask goodbye that next year we will see if instead of a million, there can be two
