Num Berço de Palhas

In a humble manger Jesus was born
They laid his little body on the straw;
Stars shining bathed in light,
The beautiful infant, baby Jesus.

The oxen lowed and Jesus woke up,
But he was calm and not frightened.
Jesus, I love you; with your tender gaze,
Come, guard my sleep, my tender dream.

Jesus, I ask you to watch over me
Loving me always, keeping me safe.
To all children come give protection
And lead us all to your mansion.
