L'Incontro
Andrea Bocelli
The Encounter
While, like a giant, between my arms
Proud and happy I hold my little one
And the tender, innocent little body
Fragile and alive like a little bird
Presses against my chest
Abandoned, quiet and secure
Half asleep, for a moment
Almost sweetly
My destiny appears to me like in a dream
So I see myself old and resigned
Sitting there, by the fireplace
Waiting with the anxiety
Of a child, for the evening
To suddenly see him
Come back with the gift of a smile
Of a word, of a kindness
It's like a comforting promise
The immense joy of his caress
Then I shake myself and
I have already forgotten
But inside me, the captivated soul
Warns me that that newborn child
Is already worth more than my own life
And I stayed in front of him for a while
And then I listened in the air and then I grasped it
He opened his hand and then
Touched my nose, brushed my mouth
I hugged him and the world spun more
Around us everything then flourished
And I stayed in front of him for a while
And that's where time found us
He opened his hand and then touched my nose
And I smiled
I hugged him and the world spun more
Around us everything then flourished
The world is a little blue light
That spins and goes with
The breath of angels
I hugged him and the world spun more
That spins and goes with
The breath of angels
I hugged him and stayed like this, like this
