O Pregador Fiel
Andréa Fontes
The Faithful Preacher
A noise through the air, was heard
It seemed like a party in the village
Curious people hurried to see
The reason for such a grand festival
They asked each other: What will it be this time?
What did the great man decree for his people?
Curiously they went to the party and upon arrival
They realized that the trophy of that festival was pain
Pain and death of a man who only did good
Who only knelt to speak with his Lord
And for not denying Christ, those Pharisee men
Ordered him to be killed
Once again the evil men's laughter was heard there
Shouting loudly in the crowd
Kill him, kill him, kill him, kill him
They expelled that man from the city and took him to the killer
But full of God's power, the man arrived there
In prayer to God, the man looked up to heaven
And said: Look, look
I see the heavens open, I see God
I see His Glory, I see my Jesus
I see Him standing, at the right hand of God
But even so those evil men had no compassion
They covered their ears and shouted loudly: Stone him
They threw stones to kill, and shouted: Kill the preacher
This man will have to stop, calling for his Lord
Uttering words and blasphemies
Against our king and our law, our saints
But the man of God did not stop
To seek in God his light
It seemed to remind us
That they also killed Jesus
On a cross they crucified their Lord
Being Holy and the Only Savior, of their souls
Can you understand? That Stephen, the faithful preacher
Did not fear death and did not surrender to his enemies
He had already seen his Lord being scourged, dragging a cross
And being nailed to it until death!
Stephen was being stoned looking up to heaven
And talking to God, and seeing Jesus at the right hand of the Father said
Jesus, oh Jesus! Receive my spirit
He gave his last breath, and fell asleep in the arms of the Lord
Fell asleep in the arms of God!
They threw stones to kill, and shouted: Kill the preacher
This man will have to stop, calling for his Lord
Uttering words and blasphemies
Against our king and our law, our saints
But the man of God did not stop
To seek in God his light
It seemed to remind us
That they also killed Jesus
On a cross they crucified their Lord
Being Holy and the Only Savior, of their souls
Stephen saw, his Lord
Stephen saw, the glory of God
Stephen saw
