Sus Ojos Se Cerraron
Andrés Calamaro
Her Eyes Closed
Her eyes closed and the world keeps going,
her mouth that was mine no longer kisses me.
The echoes of her loud laughter have faded away
and this silence is cruel, it hurts me so much...
Her hands' merciful sweetness was mine,
that gave my chest, kindness caresses,
and now that I evoke her, sunk in my sorrow,
the braided tears refuse to flow,
and I don't have the comfort of being able to cry...
Why did life cruelly burn her wings
why that sinister grimace of fate
I wanted to shelter her and death prevailed,
how this wound hurts and deepens.
I know now strange faces will come
with their alms of relief to my torment,
all is a lie, a lie is the lament
Today only my heart is...
Like predatory dogs,
the treacherous sorrows,
concealing their affection, galloped behind,
and hidden in the waters
of her kind gaze
death crouched
marking its beat.
In vain I feverishly encouraged a hope
pain dug its claws into my living flesh,
and while in the street
with crazy revelry
the carnival of the world
enjoyed and laughed
mocking destiny
it stole my love...
Why did life cruelly burn her wings
why that sinister grimace of fate...
I wanted to shelter her and death prevailed,
how this wound hurts and deepens.
I know now strange faces will come
with their alms of relief to my torment,
all is a lie, a lie is the lament...
Today only... my heart...
heart...
