Sin billete de Vuelta
Andrés Lewin
Without a Return Ticket
if in bed you tell me to stay a while
I know you mean stay forever
I pretend and you light a cigarette
I have to leave, my plane leaves at nine
taxi driver asks where we're going
tou keep looking out the window
I answer cards and choke
I close my eyes, it's been too many years
taxi driver asks you seem sad
taxi driver asks too much
I show him your photo and he smiles at me
"relax buddy, love is complicated"
and then what the hell are
all these suitcases for,
where am I going with them
if no one is chasing me?
why not keep singing,
and why not sing your name,
why not live dreaming
if no one stops me?
me in the airport waiting room
you by the phone in your window
you wait for me to call and I your call
what a pair of idiots, says a gentleman
excuse me sir you don't know me
but you may be right about that
all passengers board
except one, say the speakers
me looking at your blurry photo
you remembering the day you told me
I will always heal your sad eyes
and the passengers sing along...
and then what the hell are
all these suitcases for,
where are you going with them
if no one is chasing you?
why not keep singing,
and why not sing your name,
why not live dreaming
if no one stops you?
and then what the hell are
all these suitcases for?
you and I embarked on a journey
without a return ticket
why not keep singing,
and why not sing your name,
and why not live dreaming
without a return ticket?
finally the phone rings, someone answers
it doesn't matter who called, my hands tremble
there's not enough love in these suitcases
close your eyes
it's been too many years
end of this journey
where have we arrived
my plane has left
I'll be by your side soon
close your eyes
and wait for me lying down
