El Centauro de Oro
Antonio Aguilar
The Golden Centaur
Finally my Mexico heard Francisco Villa
So that your name will not be forgotten
With golden letters it will be seen all life long
For the pride of Durango and Chihuahua
Those birds finally understood their sorrows
And from this town their prayer has been heard
They will see your name among the immortals
With golden letters in the most sacred place
I cried, I cried, I cried to see that it was nothing
The abandoned tomb I knew in Parral
I cried, I cried, I cried like those little birds
Asking Pancho Villa to make you immortal
No one denies your values Pancho Villa
In every letter of your name a battle
Every soldier was a guarantee for you
In Zacatecas, in Torreón and in Chihuahua
Fly goldfinches, tell Francisco Villa
That there in his tomb the mockingbirds stand guard
And their songs of joy are so strong
That the mountains and hills repeat them
That time I cried, praying a prayer
At the abandoned tomb I knew in Parral
Now I will sing, they will not hear my weeping
Because they made the golden centaur immortal
