Himno del Ecuador
Antonio Neomane
National Anthem of Ecuador
Hail oh Homeland, a thousand times! Oh Homeland!
Glory to you! And your chest overflows
Joy and peace, and your radiant forehead
More than the sun we see shining
Indignant your children of the yoke
That the Iberian audacity imposed on you
Of the unjust and horrendous misfortune
That weighed fatally upon you
Holy voice to the heavens they raised
Voice of noble and unparalleled oath
To avenge yourself from the bloody monster
To break that servile yoke
The first sons of the soil
Who, proudly; Pichincha adorns
They acclaimed you forever lady
And shed their blood for you
God saw and accepted the sacrifice
And that blood was a fruitful germ
Of other heroes that, astonished, the world
Saw arise around you by the thousands
Of these heroes to the iron arm
Nothing had the earth invincible
And from the valley to the highest mountain
The roar of the battle was heard
After the battle victory flew
Freedom came after triumph
And the lion, torn apart, was heard
Roaring with impotence and spite
At last the Spanish fierceness yielded
And today, oh Homeland, your free existence
Is the noble and magnificent inheritance
That heroism gave us, happy
From the paternal hands we received it
Let no one try to snatch it from us now
Nor want to arouse our avenging wrath
Foolish or bold, against themselves
No one, oh Homeland, should try it. The shadows
Of your glorious heroes look at us
And the courage and pride they inspire
Are omens of triumphs for you
Let the iron and the fulminant lead come
That to the idea of war, and vengeance
The heroic strength awakens
That made the fierce Spaniard succumb
And if new chains are prepared
By the injustice of barbaric fate
Great Pichincha! foresee the death
Of the homeland and its children in the end
Plunge immediately into your deep bowels
When there exists in your land: the tyrant
Let him only trample ashes and in vain
Seek a trace of being next to you
