La Società Dei Magnaccioni
Antonio Romano
The Society of Good-for-Nothings
Make way, we're coming through,
These young guys from this beautiful Rome,
We're the kids painted with a brush,
And we make the girls fall in love.
And we make the girls fall in love!
But who cares, what does it matter
If the bartender watered down the wine,
We tell him, we say to him:
"You watered it down, and we ain't paying."
But still, we're the ones
Who respond in chorus:
"The best wine from the castles
Is better than this filthy society."
And if by chance the mother-in-law dies,
We’ll whip up some spaghetti amatriciana,
We’ll drink a couple liters of Velletri,
We’ll get wasted and forget about it all.
We’ll get wasted and forget about it all!
But who cares, what does it matter
If the bartender watered down the wine,
We tell him, we say to him:
"You watered it down, and we ain't paying."
But still, we're the ones
Who respond in chorus:
"The best wine from the castles
Is better than this filthy society."
We love the chickens,
The lamb and the hens,
Because they’re boneless,
Not like that salted cod.
The society of good-for-nothings,
The society of youth,
We like to eat and drink
But we don’t like to work.
Bring us another liter,
We’ll drink it all,
And then we’ll respond:
"So what? So what? What’s up?"
And when the wine (so what),
Goes down the throat (so what),
Into the gullet (so what),
It makes us feel good (so what).
To make it short, to make it quick:
"My dear bartender, bring us a drink."
A drink! A drink!
Hooray!!
