A Arca de Noé

Seven colors, all at once
The rainbow bursts free
In the clear, happy water
Of the stream in the woods.

The sun, through the sheer veil
Of the gold and silver rain
Shines bright and radiant
In the sky, on the ground, in the waterfall.

And the door of the ark opens
Slowly, out come the honest
Joy and the white beards
Of the wise patriarch.

Seeing in the distance that mountain
And the fields so green
Noah says: what a great land
To plant my vineyards.

Now here it comes, through the open door
Suddenly, unsteady
A slow, long, uncertain
Elephant's trunk appears.

And from the hole
Of a window pops out
A monkey's face
That peeks and then disappears.

"The forests are all mine!"
Roars the lion, proud
"I’m a child of God too!"
One protests; and the tiger - "No!"

The Ark, all out of whack
Seems like it’s gonna fall
With the animals jumping
All wanting to get out.

Finally, with great effort
In a long line, in pairs
Some angry, others scared
The animals start to leave.

The biggest ones lead the way
With their heads held high
And the weak, humbly
Follow behind, just like in life.

Far away, the rainbow fades
And since that story began
When the night’s veil falls
The stars rise in glory.

They fill the sky with their whims.
In the quiet night
You can hear the animals talk
In the repopulated land.
