Abarroteria de Amor

Love Grocery Store
The mystery was there
In that brick-colored house
A red beacon at the door
And a yellow sign
It was a love grocery store
Some bills to taste the flavor
Of a shared bed
With nameless ladies
With the ghost of virginity
Savings lost dignity
I broke the piggy bank
Knocked on the door and entered
There were no jealousies or mothers-in-law
I didn't have to invite them to the movies
There were no scenes with brothers-in-law
And less a damn lawyer
It was all democracy
There was no age or social classes
If you met the fee
You had your little piece of heaven
Four kisses, half a kilo of love
Two hugs and a liter of sweat
A love grocery store
There I found my school teacher
A gynecologist and an intellectual
Three drunk singer-songwriters
And a governor
Don't get nervous, she said to me
A girl dressed in red
I entered her room like a kid
And when I left, I was a gentleman
In school they talked about Columbus
And multiplication tables
But they didn't mention
How love is made
There were no jealousies or mothers-in-law
I didn't have to invite them to the movies
There were no scenes with brothers-in-law
And less a damn lawyer
It was all democracy
There was no age or social classes
If you met the fee
You had your little piece of heaven
Four kisses, half a kilo of love
Two hugs and a liter of sweat
A love grocery store
