El Orgullo Del Indio
Armando Martínez
The Pride of the Indian
An Indian arrived in my town, arrived in my town dressed as a cardinal
With a brush in hand and a canvas to paint
And humbly asking to be allowed to sing. (repeat)
On that canvas he drew that lagoon where a thousand times in the afternoon he used to bathe
He gave it shade, he put light and a thousand colors and the rumors began to be heard
What talent, what skill, what a natural way. (repeat)
The Indian keeps singing, keeps singing and doesn't stop singing
It's reality, not a myth, who would have imagined
He came asking one day, because he wanted to give. (repeat)
This shows that perseverance pays off
And that in life you have to lose and win
It's an example for my generation, I'm a troubadour and I also want to sing
I hope the people will give me the opportunity.
Know that the Indian I refer to with honor
With great pleasure I will name him
He is from Guarico, a compatriot of Pancha Duarte
Love him because he loves you the same
That Indian is Reynaldo Armas, the very same cardinal.
