Cuando Deje de Colear
Armando Martínez
When I Stop Bullfighting
I'm not going to indulge you
that desire for my spur to hang
nor the chair I travel
along with me through the sleeves of Venezuela
on the back of my horse
of my horse in afternoons of bullfighting (repeat)
Because I was born a plainsman
and I grew up bullfighting
what one learns from the plains
is never forgotten
since I was a child it taught you
to risk your life
also to bullfight the bulls
bullfight the bulls holding onto the chair
That when I stop bullfighting
because the years force me to give in
well, with other bullfighters
I promise you I'll be in the bullring
like all those who have given
their lives for the sport not to die
They must know that my pride
is to be a plainsman and to bullfight
it's not just any sport
it's the genuine sport of
our plains land
it's a heritage that the plains
along with their children offer to Venezuela
