Aging
The most modern thing in this life is to age
The beard grows down and the hair falls so the head shows
The children grow up and time says it's for real now
Others are dying and we are learning to forget
I don't want to die because I want to see
What it must be like to age
I want to live to see what it's like
And say come to what will happen
I want the carpet to fly
In the middle of the living room
I want the pressure cooker to press
And the sink to start dripping
I want the siren to sound
And make me get up from the couch
I want to put Rita Pavone
On the ringtone of my cell phone
I want to be in the middle of the cyclone
To be able to enjoy
And when I forget my own name
Call me an old fool
Being eternally adolescent is nothing more outdated
With some sparse hair on the forehead that doesn't stop growing
I don't know why these people turn away from the present and forget to learn
That fortunately or unfortunately time will always run
I don't want to die because I want to see
What it must be like to age
I want to live to see what it's like
And say come to what will happen
I want the carpet to fly
In the middle of the living room
I want the pressure cooker to press
And the sink to start dripping
I want the siren to sound
And make me get up from the couch
I want to put Rita Pavone
On the ringtone of my cell phone
I want to be in the middle of the cyclone
To be able to enjoy
And when I forget my own name
Call me an old fool.
