João
Arnaldo Antunes
João
There are so many and so few realize
How a nation is inaugurated
It's not really with monuments
Or with cannonballs
It's when a breeze hits the breath
And enters the judgment of a João
Who dedicates all effort
And love to his craft
To freshen the corners of the song
And give meaning to our sensation
Thousands of particles in the air
Swirl in a vibration
To give us their blessing
To lift us off the ground
As if the rotation of the earth
Was then
That voice and that guitar
When one person alone
In silence perfects
The whole crowd
Listens to the heart
And becomes civilization
