Caco Velho
Ary Barroso
Old Wreck
Lives in the suburbs of Enchanted
In an abandoned shack
João, the talked-about guy
They say he lived outside the law
He was a king
Who laughed in the face of death
And had his stronghold
In the midst of the laid-back crowd
His joy was to get a samba going
He'd jump, throw a kick
Wouldn't back down from a fight
But now he's an old wreck
Worthless as can be
With a white head and wrinkled skin
It's almost sad to see his state
(Poor guy)
Life is like this
It's a second that slips away fast
We all have our moment
And after that, just forgetfulness.
