Las Gerberas
ARZA
The Gerberas
I’ll leave on your walls
Written the times I imagined you when I was alone
I’ll count across the seas
All my sorrows that I fell for your eyes
Sometimes the thought itches
That there’s your door but I don’t know how to get in
Or maybe I’m just missing a word
To calm the gaze and let go
And a ladder to climb
From the sidewalk to the window of your sky
A couple of flowers to smoke
Little by little, one by one, the laments
I found out that nowadays you spend
Your days waiting for winter to pass
And I have a thousand winters for you
My darling, give me the air
That comes loose with the dance
Of your flamenco feet when you stomp
I’d cross the whole sea
To the fortress of your heart
Just so you’d let me in
And breathing your name
Strolling along your edges
Outlining every beauty mark
So when morning comes
Kick the sun awake
And love you with kisses once more
I’ll leave in your mirrors
Marked the reflection that paints your gaze blue
You’re like the gerberas
That soothe the pain when one starts to travel
And I’d travel with you
To the end of the road bringing flowers to the sun
That gets jealous
If it sees your eyes shine brighter than its warmth
Because when I see you smile, my heart
Boils like a kettle
But you swear you’re poison that does harm
And it’s likely you’ll hurt me
I don’t understand love or seek out pain
But how can you expect me not to care
When you’re more beautiful than spring
