I Want to Toast
My life was a shattered mirror
Like a treacherous bender of work and loneliness, yeah!
A free fall down a slide, until your salty body appeared
And we lived our May of '68
We’d barricade ourselves on Sundays in the warmth of our bed
From the collective barbarism and the winter of this country
And we dreamed of escaping with the Maquis every night
We traveled back in time to the Paris Commune
We waited for victory to reach glory and fulfill this desire
Ready for whatever came, to unleash the beast
Finish the bottle, lose ourselves and raise our voices
Living is breathing, moving forward and not always falling on our feet
I want to toast for today and tomorrow
For the cards we have to play
Burn our sorrows by the sea
And I want to toast and raise all the glasses
Each time feeling you closer
And be the fuel for your fire
Days turned into years
I already know your smile, it’s a powerful trap
That catches me and makes me free in equal parts in a second
And we took a great initiatory journey
To seek the essence like the Presocratic masters
We suddenly broke the routine that didn’t fill us on a plane to Southeast Asia
And I remember a getaway to Ibiza in April
And an immense weekend at the Festa Major in Vic
You were sweet and spoiled, with your gaze I don’t need a coat
I want you to sing Bella Ciao in my ear on the sand
Every full moon night, lose ourselves and raise our voices
Living is breathing, moving forward and you always land on your feet
I want to toast for today and tomorrow
For the cards we have to play
Burn our sorrows by the sea
And I want to toast and raise all the glasses
Each time feeling you closer
And be the fuel for your fire
We’ll play your shooting imaginary
I can separate the game from reason when the reason is you
Activate it now, activate it now, activate it now!
I try to make a deal and avoid entering the act
If the climax breaks, decline
Because it suits me to put it in rhyme
Playing the game of the abstract
Activate the sense of smell!
I want to toast for today and tomorrow
For the cards we have to play
Burn our sorrows by the sea
And I want to toast and raise all the glasses
Each time feeling you closer
And be the fuel for your fire
