Cachilo Dormido
Atahualpa Yupanqui
Sleeping Cachilo
(Chacarera)
When you pass through Santiago
tread quietly,
because in a corner of the land
Sleeping Cachilo lies.
Sleeping Cachilo lies
with his little poncho as a pillow,
perhaps, seeking in his dream
the soul of the vidala.
The soul of the vidala,
flower from Salavina,
when the carnivals arrive,
he will turn into a chacarera,
(Humming...)
when the carnivals arrive,
he will turn into a chacarera.
There's a corner in the sky
where the quichuistas dwell,
where they sing chacareras
as the evening arrives.
As the evening arrives,
heart trembling,
Soco goes humming
for Sleeping Cachilo.
For Sleeping Cachilo,
flower from Salavina,
when the carnivals arrive,
he will turn into a chacarera,
(Humming...)
when the carnivals arrive,
he will turn into a chacarera.
