Mi regreso
Atahualpa Yupanqui
My Return
When I return to my homeland
I will come back in the early morning
With no more light than the one that illuminates
The sorrow of my guitar
I will see ponchos of mist
Worn out from covering plains
Above, the Southern Cross
Tremendously quiet
Behind will be left paths
Like muddy ropes
And ahead, I don't know
Something perhaps maybe nothing
Let the crickets not sing to me
Nor the acacias be restless
I want to arrive in my homeland
Like a forgotten shadow
A drop of dew
Will be enough for my thirst
Silent, always silent
I will return in the early morning
