Monte Callado
Atahualpa Yupanqui
Silent Mountain
(I wish to enter one afternoon
Into that silent mountain) Repeat
(Where only the sound is heard
Of my horse's march)
(Who the hell cares
About what I'm thinking?) Repeat
(About the joys I've lived
Or the pain that I bear)
(Maybe someone will comment
That only that country guy goes)
(And I'm barely enough
To handle what I carry)
(I don't know solitude
I'm always accompanied)
(By things one has lived
Or that the wind has brought)
(That's why I want one afternoon
To enter the silent mountain)
(Where only the sound is heard
Of my horse's march)
(Whistle, for what? What's the point?)
(Better light a cigarette)
(And feel myself drifting away
As the tobacco burns)
