Te Dicen Poeta
Atahualpa Yupanqui
They Call You Poet
(You think you're different)
(Because they call you a poet)
(And you have a world apart)
(Beyond the stars)
By looking at the Moon so much
You no longer know how to see
You're like a poor blind man
Who doesn't know where he's going
Go look at the miners
The men in the wheat field
And sing to those who struggle
For a piece of bread
Poet of land and rhymes
Go live in the jungle
And you will learn many things
About the lumberjack and his miseries
Live alongside the people
Don't just watch from the outside
Because first and foremost, you must be a man
And secondly, a poet
By looking at the Moon so much
You no longer know how to see
You're like a poor blind man
Who doesn't know where he's going
Go look at the miners
The men in the wheat field
(And sing to those who struggle
For a piece of bread.) Repeat
