Un Verso Suelto
Luis Eduardo Aute
A Loose Verse
I've always been obedient when called
To be the channel of some chimera
Even if that channel might not serve
To drain all the stagnant muck
I've been a little friend of moderation
Because it's known that everything in life
Is, above all, a matter of measure
Without denying a good waist
And so I compose this poem
Correct and restrained
Perhaps somewhat surrendered
To the canon of the scheme
That's why I ask
Not to be absolved
For not having been
A loose verse
I never doubted respect for the other
Even knowing that the verdict
On power and the conflicting street
Is always dictated by the thief of the treasury
I have never opposed the light of science
That illuminates all the unknown
But I would like to know what sense
This joke called existence has
