As Mentiras

Azagaia Azagaia

The Lies

(Azagaia)
(Today I bring you a little friend named Muné, it is)
(And Muné is going to tell us a joke)
(Isn't that right, Muné?! Go ahead)

[Muné]
When a white person buys a bicycle, the other white person buys a motorcycle
And then another white person buys a car and the other one buys a plane
But when a black person buys a bicycle
Do you know what the other black person does?
Punctures the tire of that bicycle he he he

It's a lie
That you are independent
That you carry forward
Your continent
It's a lie
You didn't break the chain
You're just an unconscious slave
It's a lie

I'm going to call you black!? (black)
You would surely be offended
Because black was the slave and those days are gone but
Are you really free (are you?)
You don't even need to be a detective to answer
Look around you
Nothing you consume was produced by you (no)
From the car you drive to the clothes you wear
The TV you adore (one)
The watch that tells you the time (two)
Even the house you live in, you didn't build
From the light bulb to the cell phone, from the computer to the stereo
You didn't produce any of this
You didn't even participate in the assembly
40 years of independence
No progress in science
You still need the European to give you the cure for a disease
You don't manufacture medicines
You don't manufacture weapons
If there was another world war
You wouldn't have arguments
500 years of slavery, (yes)
And the Europeans took (what?) 36 million slaves and only 16 survived
Now you call the European, the American, or whoever
To suck your oil and build their houses here
But they don't build factories here, they just buy your barrel
With a 100 bill to then sell it to you for a thousand
Because you are the buyer who reads the practice manual
Who knows how to use but understands nothing about the machine
You don't understand mathematics
Or chemistry, or computer science
You prefer economics or to be a diplomatic figure
But you live a lie
In Africa there is no economy
How can an economy exist
In a race that only consumes
Everything others produce from what you wear to what you eat
From religion to culture
Even to your own name

(I say you, but I say us)
(In the continent or in the diaspora)
(Independent Africans who impoverish our Africa)

It's a lie
That you
Are independent
That you carry forward
Your continent
It's a lie
You didn't break the chain
You're just an unconscious slave
It's a lie

And the illusion of black success is what is seen and already known
There are more dictators in Africa than anywhere else
Inside each of us, there's a Gaddafi, a Mugabe
We give half to the people and the other half goes to Switzerland
And we love being bosses, blacks love to command
And it's only for money that the youth is studying
We don't want to innovate, or invent or create
New technologies or even copy
On the contrary, hah
Here comes another BMW. There are more Mercedes in Africa than in the home country
And if the brand is not foreign then the clothing is not good
We are ashamed of our dialects, in our vocabulary
And the whiter you look, the prouder that black person is
Believe that if a white person promises to put a camel through the needle
Because the white person is above suspicion for the black
And if God is white, we follow the sect
It's no use playing the victim
Do a self-critique instead
Check if each of these phrases is not true
Stop licking the wound and looking like a mangy dog
And after receiving alms, forgetting the offspring in the cold
You fill your chest with necklaces and kilos of foolish pride
And you don't see what is written right in the middle of your forehead
Ignorant black, stupid traitor of the homeland
With that important pose that doesn't help us at all
You have to wake up
And give importance where it's due
And stop worrying
Only when the problem arises
Or you'll end up
Chained again
This white person doesn't respect you and will show you again

(I say you, but I say us In the continent or in the diaspora)
(Independent Africans who impoverish our Africa)

It's a lie
That you
Are independent
That you carry forward
Your continent
It's a lie
You didn't break the chain
You're just an unconscious slave
It's a lie

It's a lie
That you
Are independent
That you carry forward
Your continent
It's a lie
You didn't break the chain
You're just an unconscious slave
It's a lie
