La Calle Y Yo
Banda Bostik
The Street and Me
I remember those times, it was all about hanging with the crew
Happy in the streets, leather jackets, rock 'n' roll
Six in the evening, all of us leaning on the wall
Same old routine, heading to the block and cruising around
I remember the girls, they were wild too
A bottle of wine, a beer, all waving their rock 'n' roll flags
A world of joy, a world made by the kids
My second family, an escape from all the misunderstanding
Time has passed and the crew has completely changed
Many have left, never to come back again
Others have been transformed completely by drugs
They're empty zombies, wandering through an unreal world
Many of my friends are serving long sentences in prison
Others are on the run, they chose the path of evil
Those taken by God, those who died lying in the streets
Everything has changed, nothing in the neighborhood is the same
Only the street and I know what the story was
Of a crew that’s long gone, and my friends who are in glory
Only the street and I will wait to see if anyone returns
To remember what has passed, even if we cry maybe out of sadness.
The girls from the crew who used to be total rockers
The obligation to be mothers has changed their lives
Some are still rolling, being single moms
But honestly, I feel it, many spend their lives in bars
I see the walls covered in spray paint, dragging the steps
Those times when we had rough times will never come back
But life has to go on, and others will take our street
With the same fight, with the same courage, the desire to change and become someone!
Only the street and I know what the story was
Of a crew that’s long gone, and my friends who are in glory
Only the street and I will wait to see if anyone returns
To remember what has passed, even if we cry maybe out of sadness.
Only the street and I!
